Super Running in the Streets of Kilkenny

Moycarkey Coolcroo AC athletes lit up the Streets of Kilkenny 5K on Holy Thursday with phenomenal performances, including a massive breakthrough from Brendan Neary and a personal best for Donie Bergin.

The Streets of Kilkenny 5K on Holy Thursday, April 17th, saw two outstanding runs from Moycarkey Coolcroo AC athletes.

New recruit Brendan Neary clocked a blistering 15:19, smashing his official lifetime best of 18:02 by nearly three full minutes. Brendan’s performance was a standout on the night, and his improvement over the past year has been nothing short of incredible.

Just 11 months ago, Brendan reached out with a goal of running the Dublin Marathon, having never raced beyond 10K. A dairy farmer by trade and no stranger to long days, he fit his training around a demanding schedule—and went on to run 2:33 on his marathon debut. Now, with this huge new 5K PB under his belt, Brendan is chasing sub-15 and setting his sights on a 2:20 marathon in the near future.

Also flying the flag for the club was Donie Bergin, who ran a brilliant 17:56, setting a new personal best and continuing his strong form into the spring season.

Massive congratulations to both Brendan and Donie on two superb performances!
