Moycarkey Coolcroo AC athletes delivered a superb performance today at the County Intermediate Road Championships, hosted by Moore Abbey Milers in Galbally. The sun was shining, and so were the club’s runners, as they battled it out over the challenging course.
The highlight of the day came from Matty Ryan, who stormed to victory in the men’s intermediate race, crossing the line in 26:33 to claim his second county title of the season. Following his recent triumph in the Novice Championships in Dualla, this win cements his status as one of the top road runners in the county. Securing both titles in the same season is no easy feat—a testament to his hard work, consistency, and race-day execution.
Matty wasn’t the only Moycarkey Coolcroo athlete to impress, as the men’s team put in a brilliant collective effort to secure silver in the team standings. Strong performances from Kevin Shortall (30:16), Donie Bergin (32:32), and Jamie Barry (34:20) ensured the club was well represented at the top end of the results.
It was a day of fast racing, fierce competition, and fantastic support from the sidelines. Huge congratulations to Matty Ryan on his double county title and to all the club’s runners for their efforts on the roads of Galbally. The season is well and truly heating up—onwards and upwards for Moycarkey Coolcroo AC!
